Karla Mills
Executive Vice President & Chief Project Development Officer, Teck.
Karla Mills, P.Eng., serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Project Development Officer at Teck Resources, a leading Canadian resource company focused on responsibly producing the metals essential for global development and the energy transition. She leads the advancement and delivery of major projects that drive the company’s growth and innovation.
Karla joined Teck in 2013 as Program Manager for Water Treatment Projects, where she oversaw key environmental infrastructure initiatives. She later became Program Director, Water Treatment Projects, and subsequently advanced to Vice President and Senior Vice President of Projects before being appointed to her current executive role in 2024.
With more than 25 years of project development experience, Karla has led initiatives across mining, infrastructure, and environmental management. Prior to joining Teck, she spent 16 years with Wardrop Engineering and Tetra Tech Mining & Minerals, holding senior roles in project, portfolio, and corporate leadership.
A proud University of Manitoba alumna, Karla holds a B.Sc. in Geological Engineering and a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from York University. She is a registered Professional Engineer in British Columbia and an active member of the Canadian Institute of Mining (CIM).
Karla will deliver the keynote address at the WIUGC Banquet on January 11, 2026, sharing her insights on leadership, sustainability, and the evolving role of geoscience in the mining industry.
